Sandy Fire destroys home, scorches nearly 1,400 acres in Ventura County

The Sandy Fire has destroyed one home in Simi Valley and burned nearly 1,400 acres in Ventura County, with evacuation orders still in place. The fire ignited in Simi Valley and has been driven by wind. It had burned a total of 1,386 acres and was 5% contained.
