Photos: Brush fire torches structures, forces evacuations in Simi Valley

A brush fire, known as the Sandy Fire, broke out in Simi Valley on May 18, 2026, forcing evacuations and threatening homes. Fire crews worked to protect homes with aerial resources. The fire started in dry brush on the south and east ends of the valley.
