Plant believed extinct for 60 years suddenly reappears

A plant thought to be extinct for nearly 60 years has been rediscovered in the Australian outback after a photo was uploaded to iNaturalist. The plant, Ptilotus senarius, was identified by botanist Anthony Bean. The discovery highlights the role of ordinary people with smartphones in transforming science.
