‘Unprecedented’ global effort gives new name to polycystic ovary syndrome – and new hope to millions of women
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has been renamed to polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) after a decade-long global consultation. The condition affects one in eight women and an estimated 170 million women worldwide. The name change aims to reduce confusion and suffering for those affected.
