More than 100 historic shipwrecks identified at key global shipping route, many at risk

Researchers have identified over 100 historic shipwrecks at the Bay of Gibraltar, a strategic maritime gateway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The vessels span centuries, from as early as the 5th century B.C. to World War II-era vessels. The findings are part of Project Herakles, a joint venture between Spain's University of Cádiz and the University of Granada.
