Rare comet to flash through New Zealand skies – before it disappears for 170,000 years

A rare comet known as C/2025 R3 PanSTARRS will be visible in New Zealand skies for two weeks before disappearing for 170,000 years. The comet has swung around the sun and is now visible in the southern hemisphere. Stargazers have a chance to spot the blue-green orb and smudgy tail of the comet.
