Medicare portal database exposed Social Security numbers: reports

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) unintentionally exposed Social Security numbers for at least 100 healthcare providers through its National Provider Directory. The database was removed after The Washington Post alerted CMS officials to the breach.
