Man dies covered in necrotic lesions after amoebas eat him alive

A 78-year-old man died from a rare Acanthamoeba infection that caused severe necrotic lesions and ulcers over six months. Doctors at Yale School of Medicine identified the amoeba too late, and his case was reported in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases.
