White developer sues Baltimore mayor, city council claiming he was fired because of his race

A white male city developer in Baltimore, Andrew C. Freeman, sued Mayor Brandon M. Scott, the city council, and East Baltimore Development Inc. (EBDI) for racial discrimination, alleging he was fired after his 2024 promotion due to his race in a predominantly Black workplace. The lawsuit claims EBDI's CEO Cheryl Y. Washington admitted to firing him under pressure from the mayor's office to prioritize Black women in leadership roles.
